All requests for information from the Rangitikei District Council Collection must be made to the District Council until the Archives Central repository is completed. Charges may apply for some services, as set by the Rangitikei District Council.

The Rangitikei District Council was formed in 1989 from an amalgamation of the Rangitikei County Council, Taihape Borough Council and the Marton Borough Council.

The Rangitikei District Council Collection contains the records of these numerous predecessor organisations and earlier road boards and town boards that operated within the current district boundaries from 1872-1989.

The types of records found in the Rangitikei archives include:

  • Minute books and other meeting papers
  • Correspondence files
  • Letter Books
  • Rate books and valuation rolls
  • Electoral rolls
  • Accounts and financial records

 Requesting Information

The Rangitikei District Council will be placing their archives in a shared facility in mid 2012. Until then, enquiries about the archives need to be directed to the District Council. Contact details may be found on the right hand side of this page, or on the contact page.
