From the Stacks - Archive of the Month

Colour photography had been introduced to the world as early as the 1900s, but wasn’t practical until the 1930s or cheap until the late 1960s. 35mm slides represent one of the more common forms of colour photography from the 1950s-1970s. The image below of the construction of the Moutoa Floodgates circa 1960 is taken from a set created by the  Manawatu Catchment Board from 1956 to 1981. They provide an interesting colour view and nicely compliment the other black and white photos held.
