Akitio County War Relief Association

Those interested in War funds within the Akitio County formed themselves into the Akitio War Relief Association to provide financial assistance or donations to returning soldiers, including soldiers physically or mentally disabled from war. Assistance was also provided to families of fallen soldiers. The War Relief Association of Akitio County was incorporated under the War Funds Act 1915 on the 6 July 1916 as published In the NZ Gazette. The Association ran through to December 1989.
