The exact date the Maungakaretu Rabbit Board was set up is uncertain, but it was definitely operating by 1950. In 1961 it amalgamated with the Moawhango, Hautapu and Pukeokahu Taoroa Rabbit Boards to form the Taihape Rabbit Board. Note that the only records held for this Board are in the Electoral Correspondence & Nominations file in the Taihape Pest Destruction Board file series. All other records are missing and assumed to have been lost during the amalgamation.
