History
The first meeting of the Ohakune Lakes Scenic Board was held in 1929, subsequent to the creation of the Board the previous year. The purpose was to administer the reserve land surrounding the lakes south of Ohakune.
The board was disestablished in 1953 upon the entirety of the reserve lands around Ohakune, which had been administered by various boards, being vested in the Ohakune Borough Council and administered by that body under the Ohakune Domain Board.
