Otamatea Community Town Council

Modelled on the experience of Putiki (aah), discussions of residents occurred on 25 February 1958 and it was decided that a committee be formed, as a precursor to the development of a county town. A community of interest was emphasised and it was felt that Otamatea residents needed direct involvement in development, with a particular interest in drainage and water supply. The boundaries were set, from the city boundary to Rapanui Road junction and Virginia Road, and the city boundary to Great North Road junction.
