South East Coast North Island Pest Destruction Board

This was originally set up as the South East Coast North Island Pest Destruction Authority in 1987. The Authority was effectively a committee made up of representatives from the Pest Destruction Boards in the region, which included the Wairarapa and Southern Hawkes Bay Pest Destruction Boards. In 1988 the Pest Destruction Boards amalgamated with the Authority to form a new enlarged Pest Destruction Board. However in practice the old Boards maintained their separate identities and the name of the enlarged Board was seldom used on documents. In 1989 the area covered by the Southern Hawkes Bay and old Eketahuna Pest Destruction Boards amalgamated with a number of other authorities to form the Manawatu Wanganui Regional Council.
