South West North Island Pest Destruction Board

This was originally set up as the South West North Island Pest Destruction Authority in 1987. The Authority was effectively a committee made up of representatives from the Pest Destruction Boards in the region, which included the Manawatu, Ruahine, Taihape and Western Pest Destruction Boards. In 1988 the Pest Destruction Boards amalgamated with the Authority to form a new enlarged Pest Destruction Board. All the old Boards became wards within the new one. In 1989 the Board and its component wards amalgamated with a number of other authorities to form the Manawatu Wanganui Regional Council. Note that the only separate record held for this Board is the minute book. All other related records are split between various series created by the Manawatu, Ruahine, Taihape and Western Pest Destruction Boards, which operated as semi-independent wards.
