Wairarapa Pest Destruction Board

The exact date the Wairarapa Rabbit Board was set up is uncertain, but it was definitely operating by 1959. In 1968 due to changing legislation the Rabbit Board became a Pest Destruction Board. In 1974 the Eketahuna Pest Destruction Board amalgamated with the Wairarapa Pest Destruction Board. In 1988 the Board amalgamated with Southern Hawkes Bay Pest Destruction Board to form the South East Coast North Island Pest Destruction Board. Note that no records are held for the Wairarapa Pest Destruction Board as the area falls outside of the Horizons Region. The Pest Destruction Board functions for this area were taken over by the Wellington Regional Council.
