Wanganui and Rangitikei General Road Board

The Board had powers to make bylaws, and planned for the erection of a tollgate and for the upgrading of roads between Wanganui Ferry and Whangaehu Bridge, and elsewhere. The Chairman was re-elected annually. The Board held its first meeting 24 January 1870. The minutes cease without explanation in May 1871, and are followed over the page by the first recorded minutes of the Whangaehu Highway District Road Board (from September 1872 on). This is presumed to be a successor agency.
