History
The Whangaehu Rabbit Board was formed in 1921 after an increase in rabbits in the coastal sand country between the Wanganui and Whangaehu Rivers. Rates were set based on land valuation. By 1929 the Board was employing one staff member. In 1956 the Whangaehu Board amalgamated with the Wanganui Rabbit Board.
