Horowhenua District Noxious Plants Authority Minute Books

This series holds the minutes of the Horowhenua District Noxious Plants Authority. In 1976, under the 1950 Noxious Weeds Act, the Horowhenua County Council formed a Noxious Plants Authority to control noxious weeds and plants. In 1978 the Noxious Plants Act was passed, which required all local authorities to form District Noxious Plant Authorities (DNPAs) for their area. Rather than each council setting up their own individual authority the Levin Borough Council, Otaki Borough Council, Kapiti Borough Council joined with the Horowhenua County Council in forming a joint DNPA. In 1979 the new Horowhenua District Noxious Plants Authority was formed. The volumes in this series hold the minutes of both Authorities. Each volume records the decisions made by them and holds copies of the reports submitted for their consideration. The books have a subject index at the front of each volume.
