Makerua Drainage Board Minute Books

This series contains a complete set of minutes of the Makerua Drainage Board from 1906 to 1990. The minutes are a record of decisions reached on financing the Board’s work, correspondence received from outside organisations and people, appointments of significant staff, reports on work undertaken and demands from the public and complaints dealt with. They provide a legal framework for the operation of the Board and underpin all other records kept. They are arranged in meeting date order and there are no indexes. Meetings were run as formal committee meetings with notices of motion moved, seconded and voted on. In the first two volumes the entries are handwritten directly into the books. After October 1923 they are typewritten on a separate sheet and then pasted in. The minutes of each meeting are signed and dated as confirmed by the Chairman.
