Moutoa Drainage Board Files

This series contains the correspondence file system of the Moutoa Drainage Board. The file system was set up about 1955 and records the inwards and outwards correspondence of the Board. There is some correspondence prior to 1955, but the majority in this series is from the 1950s to the close of the Board in 1990. The files are split between general sundry correspondence files for each letter of the alphabet and files for specific organisations or agencies that the Board was in regular contact with. The sundry files contain all correspondence received from or sent to people and companies with names beginning with that letter. For example the B Sundry Correspondence File (F4) contains correspondence from the British Trade Commission, Bergin and Cleary, Brooker and Friend Ltd and various other people and groups that begin with B. The files are arranged by file number and a small number are missing, assumed destroyed. The last two files in the series were created in the 1990s, after the close of the system, for reference purposes. One holds correspondence around the Pleuger Pump installed by the Board, the other holds copies of early Board letters taken from Manawatu County Council files.
