Puketoi Rabbit Board Rates Book

This series contains the complete rate book for the Puketoi Rabbit Board from 1923-1949. The rate book keeps a list of rate payers within the region of the Board. Rates were levied under the provisions of the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1908, and its amendments, and Sections 38 and 39 and amendments No.4, 1920, of the Rabbit Nuisance Act, by the Puketoi Rabbit Board. Information captured in the rate book includes Valuation role number, Occupier name, owner name, Description and location of property, the General rate per acre, Arrears, Total, 10% penalty, By Whom paid and the Date of payment. At the top of each page is the stated rate fee per acre for that given rating period. At first glance the book appears to be in alphabetical order but this is not the case. The entries are listed by valuation number. When property was transferred to a new owner the list was not reordered alphabetically.
