This series contains the administration correspondence file system used by the Rangitikei Wanganui Catchment Board. It was in use from circa 1963 to 1989 and replaced the previous correspondence system, though many earlier papers were carried over onto these new files.
The files contain both inwards and outwards correspondence and may also contain maps, plans, photographs and ephemera. They provide evidence of the operational, legislative and administrative actions of the Rangitikei Wanganui Catchment Board. The files cover such topics as licences and leases, flood damage, buildings owned by the Board, soil conservation work, metal licences the hiring of staff and industrial awards.
The files are split into three different sections, one for each division of the Board and each with a different prefix. The A/- files concern matters around the general administration of the board the C/- files Soil Conservation issues and the E/- files Engineering matters. Although there are sections for Soil Conservation and Engineering in this file system, the records here are administrative in nature. Technical records around construction and implementation of works are held in a different file system (see series HRC 00050).
