Southern Hawkes Bay Pest Destruction Board Minute Books (1st Series)

This series concerns the minute books for the Southern Hawkes Bay Rabbit Board (after 1968 the Southern Hawkes Bay Pest Destruction Board) for 1940-1971. Minutes for 1971-1974 are missing. The first meeting of the Southern Hawkes Bay Rabbit Board was held in the Secretary’s Office, Gordon Street, Dannevirke on Monday 12th June 1940. The minutes recorded all manner of the boards business including the levying of rates, passing of accounts for payment, staff vacancies and appointments, eradication issues and the reading of inward and outward correspondence. The pages of the typed minutes have been pasted into the books. Also pasted in the book is a newspaper article of the first meeting. There is no index but the minutes are in chronological order.
