Library Member's Ticket

"Member’s Ticket" Number 217, issued to Mrs M. W. Waters, for use of the Rental Department, Palmerston North Municipal Library.

This card was probably issued from the Library building on the corner of The Square and Fitzherbert Avenue about 1960 – 1965, for the name is written in the ink of a biro pen (which became popular during the 1960s) and the term "Municipal Library" was discontinued after the opening of the new "Public Library" building on the corner of The Square and Main Street in 1965. Mrs M. W. Waters was Margaret Waters, wife of Melville Williams ("Mel") Waters, a well-known farmer of Turitea Road.
