The Showgrounds Board of Control administered the Palmerston North Showgrounds after they were transferred from the Manawatū and West Coast Agricultural and Pastoral Association to the Palmerston North City Corporation in 1974.  In 2001 the name of the facility was changed to Arena Manawatū.
