Descriptive Note

Financial records relating to the fundraising campaign of 1923 – 1924 and the purchase and erection of the memorial in 1925 – 1926. (The subscription lists in Box 2 contain a detailed record of the house-to-house canvass of 1923 – 1924, which was the most comprehensive fundraising campaign undertaken in Palmerston North to that date). The organisation raised funds for the erection of a memorial to local residents who were killed during World War One. The memorial was erected in The Square in 1926.
