Descriptive Note
Files recording commercial users of the Whanganui River during the period, mainly post-1988 when the City Council took over the function from the disestablished Harbour Board. Prior to 1995/96, the activity was managed as a joint venture with the Ruapehu District Council. After 2001, the Maritime Safety Authority took over the function. The files were held by an individual officer, and were not part of a registered system. They include licence applications and correspondence, the Whanganui River Control Bylaws 1991, and samples of licence forms and stickers.
